Ola familia e amigos!
Tudo bem! This week was a bit different then a normal week. i don't know how much I will write, as usual, I am totally free-lancing it right now so I may go off on tangents or not go anywhere at all.. haha
So let's see, this last week..
It was a slow week because unfortunately my companion was sick so we had to sit in the apartment while he was getting over his sickness for about 4 days so it was kind fo hard to study and read a lot. You can read and study soo much until your eyes bleed and you need a break. One day I got up and went to grab my basketball and my shoes when i realized..yeah..I am not home anymore. I miss being able to do that. Sports for me is my relaxant so that is what I have needed a lot this past week, to clear my head.. haha.. but it was good, I got to read a lot and I have seen that you get hungrier and hungrier to gain more knowledge. It's kind of cool but you dive deeper into the Bible and Book of Mormon and you just want to learn more. That's how I was feeling at points throughout the day. We are back on our feet today so this week we can see and teach more people.
Nothing too exciting but we are still working with the family from Panama and the Grandpa is pretty cool. He is in his 60s and goes to the gym and works out, what a boss! He says he has to stay young to keep up with his grand kids haha He talks to us when we come by and is very nice. It's hard getting the fmaily to church because our building is far away buuutt we got the oldest son Jorge (14) to bball on saturday night and he loved it! We brought a soccer ball and it was sweet kicking around with him. He then wanted to be whown aroudn the church so I did and he loved the paintings all around about Christ and stuff. He stopped at almost everyone and loved looking at them. We showed him all the classrooms and he loved how we had a piano is so many rooms. I said "well, we sing a lot" and he liked playing around on the piano. Later on that night we were at Taco Bell, (Garrison, Sam: TB! 4th Meal! Yeahh buddy!) first Taco Bell since being out and it was amazing! Guess what I got? Two Crunchwraps and two tacos haha I was hungry ok? Anyways, this homeless guy came in looking for food but left and we kind of stared around like, "why isn't anyone helping this dude?" so me, Jorge and another elder (we were with two other missionaries and another guy that night) each grabbed a taco and ran outside and got the himeless guy before he crossed the street. We gave him them and he was soo grateful to have something to eat. He said “God bless” and we went back. We walk in the front glass doors and everyone in Taco bell and some of the workers were staring at us asking "what happened, what did he do?" We said, "nothing, we just gave him some food, he was hungry" like it was normal for us, but then they were expecting some other news. Made me kind of think (as I ponder a lot being a man of such high intelligence haha) about why would giving someone food be so out of the ordinary? it should be instinct, and that night it pretty much was. I am glad we did this and Jorge after that, "I feel good man, like I like doing that stuff, helping people." it makes me think some more about this holiday season and how we need to give more then receive, be more like Christ and less like man you know? Doesn't mean we stop after December 25th though, we go until the next year, all 365 days. That's what we should be doing, giving Taco Bell, well haha, or other food and stuff, helping others, and helping everyone be with friends and family for the holidays.
Tchau e tudo bem!
