Week 1

Hola!

So i made it into the Provo MTC here in Utah (Utard haha) and so far so good. Wow, where to start..

Spencer and his super short companion.
Got in Wednesday and we had a lot of first day orientation type of stuff so that was cool I guess. Got my companion who is Elder Josephson (he is 6'4" by the way) and we have 12 total elders in our district, then another district that also got in on wednesday with us. The other district are all going to Santa Maria, Brazil as well so the are hecka cool to chill with and stuff. My companion and I and one other guy are going to santa Maria. Everyone else is eaither going to Sao Paulo or Porto Allegre so we are all pretty close. We get an hour of gym time everyday so I ahve been ballin' in up (basketball) and for some reason the last two times we played I have been guarding these 6 foot something, almost 300 pounder tongan missionaries, go figure. Pshh I shut them down. Actually they were getting mad because I kept running around to get open and then shooting the jump shot. (it pays to be fast dude)

Other then gym time we have our classroom that w eare assigned to which is whaere we spend most of our time when we have personal or companion study or our lessons with our teacher. No joke, I have learned more Portuguese in this last week then I learnmed Spanish in 2 years. They aren't l;ying when they say they push you right into the pool of language learning. It is so much fun but hard. Actually I had one of those days where I just hated it, my companion and I weren't understanding anything the teacher was saying, our "pesquisedore (investogator)" that we were teaching couldnt understand anything, there were long pauses like no other and that day I just didn't want anything to do with Portuguese. I was getting pretty frustrated, not as frustrated as I get when I get mad in basketball (still your fault dad that you gave me those genes) but I was just down most of the day. That night we had our branch president speak to us and he told us about how to study, reminded us of why were there etc. He also reminded us that we have only been there a couple of days and not to stress over the language. Teaching the gospel and reading preach my gospel and Book of Mormon comes first. JJust the way he explained stuff really jhit me and ther next day my companion and I were ready to go and now we can at least understand soo much more! Crazy how the Spirit gets you fired up!

Overall I am having a blast here, food is good, I am sure I will get sick of it soon (hint hint anyone :D) and our district is hecka chill and cool. This one elder who is in my room looks like the nerdy guy from The Polar Express, no joke dude, that's him! And he is the most by the book person I have ever met!! Holy cow if we are 30 second late getting up in the morning (which is 6:30am) he starts saying that we are in trouble and all that stuff..We just let it go, he is a good guy at heart but honestly...kinda weird haha He ain't my companion so I'm good hahaha

Today we went to the temple and it was amazing. Want to talk about feeling o Espirito (the Spirit)? Today was a big day for that. It felt so great to get out of the MTC and slow down and just relax and have the temple right there available for you. I am running out of time but I will try to get some picture I have taken and try to send them today if not very soon!
