Week 8

Oi! Como voces estao? Estou muito bom.
So I am done with week 8 and have 1 more week left of routine cafeteria food, class schedules, and teachers who only speak in Portuguese. I am soo excited to leave but sometimes sad also. The MTC is a spiritual steriod that you take a dosage every day. You have great speakers come every Sunday and Tuesday for devotionals, and you have great teachers who, if you really need to, can speak english too. My excitement is overtaking my sadness by far haha 3 more guys in my district got their visas and headed out earlier today for Brazil! It is good to see that people are getting them though but it looks like for me I will probably get temporarily reassigned to a stateside mission, then I serve their until I get my visa (which is what majority of Brazil bound missionaries here are doing. So I am kind of excited to see where I will go for the time being) Either way, I'll be teaching so it's all good.
Weather here has gotten better though, not so cloudy, pretty sunny, or not bad for the other days. But our building is hecka warm because we think they already turned the heating and cooling system on "winter mode" so it can get reallyy hott! I guess this is a taste of what it will be like in Brazil, hot, humid, and stuffy. haha  One time I walked into the building from lunch and a wave of heat hit me and I said, "for real?!" the same time as my companion made a loud "uugghhhh.." as we opened the door. hahaha  It pretty gross how hot and humid it was inside.
On Tuesday we had Julie B. Beck (Relief Society General President) and she spoke a lot about families and temples and how important the two are. She also spoke about loving one another and our mission president. One cool thing she said that stuck out to me was that we have an unknown journey (whether as missionaries or anyone else) but we are in the hands of the Lord. I thought this was hecka cool because it is really about your attituide which brings me to my next little schpeel haha  Last night in class my teacher, Irmao Porter, spoke about our attitudes on our mission. What we get out of our mission is what we put into it and I can totally see that. I try to study the language as much as possible and I can see the difference between me and my companion (who doesn't study as much). It really does help apply this to any situation. The more effort, time, and devotion you put in to anything in life that you want, the more you will get out of it whether it is school, work, sports, family life at home, anything. It is all about your attituide, making the best of the situation, holding on, and enduring to the end. The reward will be so great I can promise that. I really liked how he presented this to us and saying that this last week is critical, not to slow down, but to have that fire in our eyes. it can apply to others in life also. It's all about your attitude.
I hope everyone is well. Tudo bem! Tchau!
