Week 9 (part 2ish)

Tudo bem! Eu estou muito bom porque estou feito com o CTM! Finalmente! Eu achei que e nao fui sair nunca ali haha entao..eu estou em Alabama in the Birmingham Mission but more specifically serving in the oxford area. It has been a little bit different then what I'm used to. It's Alabama so a lot of people speak with a southern accent, that is a given haha I'm in a smaller town area where there are stores and stuff, just mroe spread out and such so yeah.

I left the MTC early Monday morning at 5am to go to Salt Lake to the airport and it was sooo nice being out in the normal world haha I love it! But now I have a tag and I am a missionary so i was wondering why in Texas (at our Dallas/Fort Worth stop) people were looking at me. Maybe because I was wearing a suit when half of everyone else was wearing Texas Rangers jerseys, and the fact that I had the black namtag that basically says I am a missionary haha So that was interesting too but a lot of fun. I mostly ried to sleep on the plane. On our flight to Birmingham, I was getting on the plane and at the very front I see, in the first class section, someone who looked very familiar. I turned back around to one of the other missionaries right ebhind me and said "hey is that Kanye?" and he said "dude I think it is!" and i took 4 or 5 more looks as we slowly walked past those first seats to check if it was him haha Later on we asked one of the Stuwardesses (i dont know how to spell it haha) if the guy sitting in the front left row of the first class was Kanye West (hip hop artist, veryyy famous!) and she said yes! I wanted to get a picture with him soo bad..but the two ladies right next to me decided it was naptime so they plopped in their seats and I was trapped! I dind't get a picture (sadly) but I can say I saw Kanye West haha it was hecka cool. Stupid ladies..who sleeps on planes!? hahaha anyways..it was a really cool experience.

I got my new companion here (Elder Gibson from Las Vegas, Nevada) in Alabama and he is cool. He knows soo much about the people in this area and he knows soo much knowledge I feel so scripturally small compared to him, the only I have on him is I know more portuguese haha He has already taught me soo much after only being here for barely a day, so I think I am going to learn a lot from him and I am kind of scared but excited for what the next week or so holds haha We taught this family last night (I know, my first night!) and The dad, who is a not Mormon, grew up and lived in fremont, 15 minutes away from Pleasanton! So i thought it was really cool to be able to connect and talk to him, I can't wait to see and teach them again. He said he loves the missionaries and respects us, now we just got to get him to stop smoking haha But he was talking about areas in the Bay Area that I have been and so it was really sweet to talk to someone from back home haha

On Sunday we had a fireside with a speaker and the guy who spoke was Stephen B. Allen again but one thing that stuck out to me that he said is that we are not hear by mistake, we are hear for a reason. I can totally see how this is true because I feel that it connected to me because I am a missionary and sometimes I question about why i am in Alabama or why i am going where I am going but it is all for reasons, whether it's the people I teach or who I see or learning new things myself. I think this is true for everyone because we are all here for a reason, God didn't just put us down randomly, no. There is purpose behind it and I can see it with everyone. We are here to learn, to interact, to have the friends and family we have, all for reasons that we do or do not see, but there are for the better. It's pretty cool if you just step back from the computer screen and think about why you are here, and what your purpose is, why did you meet that one person or why are you who you are, it's not by mistake. I really liked this and I think everyone can get something out of it. Eu sei que estas coisas e verdadeiro. Tchau!
