Week 16 part two

Hola tudo bem familia e amigos!

So this week was a pretty neat week with everything going on with the Holidays. It was pretty interesting to see how stores put up more and more sales, clearances, and other ridiculous signs to grab your attention and practically try to make people drive right off of the road directly into their store. (haha) We as missionaries didn't change our message of what we share. What we did change is our approach and the best one was caroling, it worked really well and had a lot of success and some people were interested more about what we believe and wanted to know more. It was really interesting, and sometimes funny, to see the response that we would get. Some people would have Merry Christmas all over their house with decorations and lights and the Nativity scene up. Then we would knock and start singing and they would reject us or shut the door mid sentence and we were like what? I guess people express getting a free song sung to them differently then others. The best one by far was when a guy came up to the door after we knocked and waved to us to acknowledge us, then fiddled witht he door and looked back and said "..i'm sorry...it's locked.." and left! We were like..uhh..you're the one on the inside of the door, that's the lamest excuse. (haha) But hey, what can you do right? It was interesting to see people react differently. One lady cried when we snag to her (and we don't have good voices at all come to think of it) but she said "ya'll don't have any idea what this means to me...my daughter and I have been wanting to go caroling for years and we have never been sang to.." then she asked if she was supposed to pay us and we said nope, you listened so you did your part. It was great to see someone light up like that. Giving, not receiving. We also went to Section 8 government assisted housing and handed out a bunch of our media stuff like free Christ DVDs and Book of Mormon and Bibles to people along with other little gifts for kids and the people said they loved them and came back out to thank us as we were walking away. Many said they didn't have any presents for their kids and it made me sad, but very happy to see how we helped them. It make syou want to help more people but it's one at a time, "line upon line, precept upon precept.."

So now I am officially a "lone wolf" as I like to call it. I am in the Anniston/Jacksonville area which is North of the Oxford area where I normally am. In Oxford we got another companion and he is assigned to this mission so my companion is training him...so now wherever I switch to, I am always the third one (haha)  My mission president (head hauncho of Alabama for us missionaries) wants me to move back and forth between these two areas, and so now I am literally living out of my suitcase. It's fun becasue I teach different people but also I teach with different missionaries so I have to maybe adjust my teaching style to theirs or vica versa, so it's like I am switching around and all. It keeps me on my toes I guess so we will see how this next week goes and next week i will probably be back in Oxford.

Christmas was a neat experience and New Years is coming up, oh yeah, and I think it's my birthday too (haha)...Almost forgot that one. I was really grateful to be able to have Skyped (video chatted) with my family and so it was really cool to see them again and catch up in the short time I had but it was definately worth it. They are still the same crazy, girly household we have..sorry dad..I'll be back soon (haha) At least there is the wonderful world of sports where you can escape from all the fights about sharing blow dryers and curling irons and watch real, more interesting, action that never ends (as long as you are on ESPN). But it was great to be able to talk with them.
